Position description

Applicants are invited for a postdoctoral scholar position beginning August 1st 2025 or earlier. The postdoctoral fellow will work in Prof. Asantha Cooray’s group on topics related to cosmology and extragalactic astrophysics in one or more areas of data analysis topics related to the large-scale structure, infrared background and its fluctuations, galaxy clustering, and strong gravitational lensing identification, characterization, and follow-up observations. The position is related to group’s participation the SPHEREx and Euclid missions. Extensive collaboration within SPHEREx Galaxy Formation theme group and Euclid Science Working Groups on Strong Lensing and Primeval Universe is expected.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent prior to beginning the appointment. A background in extragalactic astrophysics and familiarity with wide area imaging data analysis methods, machine learning techniques and other tools are useful for this position.

The initial appointment will be for two years, with up to a total of five years contingent on successful performance and continued availability of funds. Salary will be determined based on experience. The position includes significant research and travel funds.
