Position description
The Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, UCI School of Medicine is seeking a two full-time Clinical Geneticists with expertise in cancer genetics to join our clinical and academic faculty of 10 geneticists and 10 genetic counselors. The Division provides outpatient care and inpatient consultation services to a diverse patient population in the cancer genetics clinics at UC Irvine Health, and in pediatric, metabolic, adult, and prenatal genetics clinics at UCI and our affiliated hospitals. Division faculty members also participate in didactic and clinical training of residents, fellows, genetic counseling graduate students, medical students, and other trainees, and provide community outreach. Clinical or translational research participation is possible and encouraged, and there are many possibilities for collaborative research.

About the UC Irvine Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine: The faculty of the Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine currently comprises 10 licensed certified genetic counselors and 10 MD or MD/PhD certified clinical geneticists, some of whom are also certified in clinical cytogenetics, medical biochemical genetics, and/or clinical molecular genetics. We are home to one of the first genetic counseling graduate programs and to ACGME-accredited Clinical Genetics and Genomics categorical and combined residency training programs. The Division provides inpatient consultation services and outpatient care in cancer, metabolic, prenatal, pediatric adult, and specialty genetics clinics at the UC Irvine Medical Center, Children’s Hospital Orange County, and Memorial Care Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital. Division faculty members are actively involved in clinical, translational, and basic science research. U.S. News & World Report has ranked UCI as one of the top 50 U.S. medical schools for research and primary care and has consistently ranked UCI Medical Center among the top 3% of hospitals nationwide.
About the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center: The Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) of the University of California, Irvine is the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Orange County and one of 51 nationwide Comprehensive Cancer Centers. During the past three decades, the CFCCC has carried out its mission to develop new knowledge about the etiology, causes, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancers, and has enacted a broad-based program to leverage this information to alleviate the burden of cancer on the residents of Orange County and surrounding areas. Qualifications
• ABMGG board-certification or active candidacy in Clinical Genetics and Genomics
• Interest/experience in diagnosis and management of individuals with inherited cancer predisposition syndromes
• Applicants must be qualified for a medical license in the State of California.
Additional board-certification in Medical or Clinical Biochemical Genetics, Laboratory Genetics/Genomics, Clinical Cytogenetics/Genomics, Clinical Molecular Genetics/Genomics, or in another ABMS specialty is beneficial but not required. Spanish or Vietnamese language competency is helpful but not required.
