Position description
The University of California, Irvine (UCI) Department of Emergency Medicine is now accepting applications from skilled physician educators who are passionate about advancing clinical care, education and research within a fast-pace, high-volume, clinical/academic setting. Positions are available in the Professor of Clinical X series and the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series, at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank.
Candidates must possess an MD or MD/PhD and board certification /board eligibility in Emergency Medicine. California DEA registration, California Medical License/ California Medical License eligibility and the ability to obtain California UCIMC staff credentials are required.
Strong interest and demonstrated abilities in delivering patient care in an academic clinical setting, teaching residents and medical students, and providing service to the University are required.
Those with post-doctoral trainings, fellowships, sub-specializations and/or advanced degrees/certifications are strongly desired.
The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, medical students and other academic learners, provide quality patient care, collaborate on research and/or creative works and perform university and public service. Demonstrated evidence of capabilities for excellent teaching and creative works suitable for the series is expected for appointment to this series.
Criteria for appointment in the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is an essential criterion for appointment in this series.
Criteria for appointment in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.
Positions are dependent upon funding. Rank and salary will be commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience.

MD or MD, PhD
Eligible/Board Certification in Emergency Medicine
Eligible/California Medical License
Eligible/ California DEA registration
Ability to obtain UCIMC Staff credentials.
